ABOUT US:
How the Friends work to help the library
- Foster closer relations between the Sherwood Public Library and individuals in the Sherwood area.
- Promote knowledge of the functions, resources, services and needs of the library.
- Support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilities in the community.
- Enable the Sherwood Public Library to enhance services, expand programs and add new dimensions that maximize the library's role and usefulness in the community.
- Heighten public awareness of library services and resources.
- Assist in the identification of community needs
- Encourage, solicit and receive gifts and bequests to the library from corporations, businesses, community organizations and private citizens.
MEMBERSHIP:
Classes of membership shall be as follows:
- Annual Payment for each of the following
- Friend - $5
- Family - $10
- Sustaining - $100 to $499
- Patron - $500 or more
- Sponsor - $50 or more by an organization
- Lifetime - $100 by an individual
Funding Levels for Program Support
- Seed--$15, pays for two books for Paperback Pals book group for 3rd-5th graders
- Sprout--$50, pays for seven books for Fiction Friends book group for 6th-8th graders
- Sapling--$100, pays for one all-ages Washington County Mobile Museum program
- Maple--$400, pays for one visiting childrens program from OMSI
- Fir--$1000, pays for one regionally known inspirational speaker for adults
- Pine--$5000, pays for five new picture books by topic areas to make it easy for parents and children to find books about Princesses, Transportation, Dinosaurs, Classics and Bedtime
- Sequoia--$8,000-10,000 pays for one bestseller author talk for adults
All donations are tax-deductible and directly support the Library
